You could say education is the family business. My mother and father are both retired public school educators, two of my sisters are K-12 teachers and the other works with children as a music therapist. My father was my high school principal and I was middle school principal and high school football coach to both of my sons.
My first full year as superintendent of Saugatuck Public Schools will be my thirty-fourth as a public school educator in Michigan. My career in education began as a mathematics & physics teacher for Unionville-Sebewaing Area Schools, followed by the principalship of Unionville-Sebewaing Area Middle School. The past thirteen years, I have been fortunate to serve as the principal of Saugatuck Middle School & High School. In addition to teaching and school administration, I have enjoyed over twenty five years as a football and track coach.
I earned both by Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Central Michigan University and completed by Ph.D. in K-12 Educational Leadership at Western Michigan University in 2015.
I consider it an honor and a privilege to serve the children and parents of the district as well as the communities of Saugatuck and Douglas.
Where there is no hope for the future, there is no power in the present.
